I am a person who have dry skin because I never bothered to mosturize until I I was in my mid 20’s. So, I’m sharing with you some info I’ve read…
Here are some reasons that causes dry skin:
- cold weather and low humidity
- central heating system
- aging due to lower estrogen level and the fact that our skin do not produce as much oils
- other reasons include dehydration, malnutrition, diabetes, eczema and low thyroid hormones
How to treat Dry Skin?
- If you use lukewarm water, do not take long showers or baths
- Apply moisturizer while skin is still damp to seal in the moisture
- Use mild soap like Dove and avoid perfumed soap
- If you could afford one, use a humidifier at home
- Avoid skin care products that contain alcohol
- Don’t wash your face too frequently
- Wear Sunscreen
- Use Moisturizers that contains emolients such as urea and mineral oils which can provide a barrier to keep moisture in and harmful agents out
