Have you heard of SAM-e yet? For those who have not, SAM-e is a naturally occurring compound that is found in all living things. It’s distributed throughout the human body and it contributes to maintaining mood levels.

As we mature or get older, the level of SAM-e in our bodies will tend to decline. Certain groups of people, including those with low mood and liver conditions, also tend to have lower levels of Sam-E in their bodies. When this happens, taking SAM-e supplement is one of the best alternative to restoring a healthy mood. Besides mood support, it has also been clinically proven to help with joint comfort and liver health.

SAM-e supplment is available over the counter or from retailers or online.  If taken regularly, SAM-e can begin to help in as little as 7 – 14 days. giab.jpgKeep The Bad Stuff Out and The Good Stuff In – In a nutshell, that’s what Gloves In A Bottle can do for you.

I have dry skin condition and as a result, also have mild eczema on my elbows from time to time. Thus, when I was offered to review Gloves In A Bottle, I was happy to try it out. I must admit, I did not really expect anything positive out of it as I have tried numerous products without much success.

For those who are not aware, regular hand and skin lotions only replace natural oils with artificial ones and offer temporary relief that does little to heal the skin. Therefore, constant use of these lotions can actually cause the skin to produce less natural oils.

Gloves In A Bottle is a shielding lotion and unlike regular moisturizers, it bonds with the outer layer of our skin and helps lock in the natural oils and moisture. Because Gloves In A Bottle becomes part of the outer layer of skin itself, it doesn’t wash off like conventional lotions. This is important for people like me who washes my hand constantly due to house chores. I do not need to deal with the hassle of reapplying moisturizers as this shileding lotion provides continued protection of up to 12 hours.

Verdict : I’ve applied Gloves In A Bottle to my troubled dry elbows for two weeks now and the eczema has somewhat subside. I am hoping to see more positive result on prolonged use of up to one month.

Meantime, for those who would like to try Gloves In A Bottle, you can request for samples or purchase it online here.

As a woman, are you aware of the following:

  • Cervical cancer is the only cancer with a single-known cause–the human papilloma virus
  • Approx. 80% of women will get one or more types of HPV by age 50.
  • The pap alone is not fool proof in detecting HPV– it can miss up to half of the time!
  • When combined with the Pap, the HPV test is virtually 100% accurate in identifying women at risk for cervical cancer.
  • If you want to learn more about HPV test, here’s a quick clip to share: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=624S8eU_95U

I have trouble getting to sleep especially when I travel. Very often, I will average 3-4 hours of sleep each night when I am away from home. Fortunately for me, when I am back home, I will sleep like a baby.  I used the word “Fortunately” because you will be amazed to find out that 40 million Americans have a sleep disorder and 95% are undiagnosed and untreated by any sleep order center. I am just thankful that I do not fall into those group of people.

Here are some symptoms of sleep disorder:

    • Excessive daytime sleepiness
    • Morning Headaches
    • Leg cramps or continuous uncontrollable urge to move your legs
    • Obesity
    • Trouble falling or staying asleep
    • Depression, reduced sense of well being
    • Irritability and short tempered
    • Loud snoring

If the above symptoms sound familiar to you, perhaps you should seek professional help from sleep disorder centerlike Advanced Sleep Diagnostics Center. They have the state of the art, fully equipped facilities and a professional team of staff which can help increase your productive sleep and improve or develop sound sleep practices.

Whether you are in need of a full sleep study or merely a professional consultation, ASDC can help you. Call 352-751-0235 for a good night’s rest.

I’ve found a useful health resource which I would like to share with all of you. This website is called Heart Library and provides detailed information the most important organ in our body, which is of course the heart.

Whether you are searching for information on Enlarged Heart, Heart Attack, Heart Block, Sudden Cardiac Arrest or anything related to the heart, all you need to do is browse through the interactive heart video library. If you have friends or family members who might benefit from this information,  do feel free to forward this site to them.

One of the perks of blogging is being able to write about the things I enjoy and issues that I feel strongly about. Thus today, I would like to share with all the women and moms out there regarding a topic which we consider taboo in society – Heavy Periods.

Let’s see how many of you say YES to the following:

    • Your periods disrupt your family and social life, regular activities, and moods.
    • Your periods negatively affect your sexual relationships.
    • You dread leaving the house on the worst days of your heavy period.

If you feel that the above points sound familiar, you are not alone. For years, I have been suffering from heavy bleeding and mood swings which makes it uncomfortable enough for me when working. And according to the National Women’s Health Resource Center, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 3 Baby Boomers experience heavy periods-that’s about 10 million women in the U.S. alone!

The sad fact is many women, including myself, are not aware that there is a solution to this misery. It has nothing to do with hormones or hysterectomy. For women with heavy periods who have completed childbearing,  there is a non-hormonal, one-time minimally invasive procedure that typically takes less than five minutes to complete and can eliminate heavy periods – the NovaSure® Endometrial Ablation System. Though this is a safe, simple, and effective solution for heavy bleeding, only 14% of women know about this treatment option.

Hence, Novasure has launched the Dare To Wear White website to create awareness of the fact that there are many women out there who are having period to the extent that it is  interfering with the quality of their lives. This is a site for women of all ages to share experiences and feelings about this very private subject and learn more about treatment options so they can actively seek help. If you are one of those women who are struggling with heavy bleeding, I encourage you to take a look at  the site, ask questions, share stories or even request a brochure on the site.

In conjunction with this Dare To Wear White Campaign, Mom Central is also running a survey and for the first 250 eligible women (those who have heavy periods AND are finished having children) who complete it will receive a $10 Amazon gift certificate as a thank you for your participation.

Under Armour, the leader in performance apparel and footwear, has launched their fifth annual “Power in Pink” campaign. As part of the “Power in Pink” campaign, Under Armour is encouraging survivors and women currently living with breast cancer to share their inspirational stories of strength and survival at www.underarmour.com/powerinpink. Under Armour will select three stories of undeniable courage to become the new faces of the “Power in Pink” campaign and star in national magazine and online advertisements and in-store visuals. Stories will be accepted through April 30, 2008.

In 2003, Under Armour created the “Power in Pink” campaign to help educate female athletes about the benefits of physical activity in helping to overcome breast cancer and lead a healthy lifestyle.  During the months of September and October, while supplies last, consumers will be able to purchase exclusive, ribbon-imprinted styles at www.uawomen.com/powerinpink and retail locations nationwide including Dick’s Sporting Goods, The Sports Authority, Modell’s and Nordstrom. Visitors to the site will be able to read the stories of the three survivors and learn about their resolve to overcome breast cancer. In addition, the site will feature links to key educational resources.

For each item purchased at Under Armour throughout the “Power in Pink” promotion, $2.00 will be donated to breast cancer charities. Since its inception five years ago, Under Armour’s donation amount has more than doubled each year through the continued growth in popularity of the “Power in Pink” apparel and accessories.

Though Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)  is a common condition, not everybody is aware that it is responsible for 325,000 deaths per year. Now that you get the statistics, don’t you feel that 900 deaths per day  is an alarming rate?

Here’s a chance for you to better understand SCA’s potential dangers to you, your family and your friends. Hop over to Inside Cardiac Arrest via the link in this post to acquaint you with the risk factors for SCA.

Have you heard of chelation therapy? Chelation  is the use of EDTA to bind molecules, such as heavy metals toxicity or minerals, and “chelate”, or remove, them from the body.

How does this therapy heath improve one’s health? Basically, all chelators are considered to be removers of heavy metals toxicity. EDTA is the only chelator that has been used over the last 50 years to also reverse the effects of arterial plaque, thus preventing further strokes, and/or heart attacks. This is made possible as liquid EDTA can be absorbed directly into the bloodstream where it begins to chelate toxic and heavy metals, along with excessive mineral deposits. When metals and minerals remain in the bloodstream, they accumulate and harden, causing poor circulation. Thus, by cleansing the body’s arteries and veins, the blood flow is increased. Proper blood flow will supply the body with nutrients and oxygen, which are essential for the body to recuperate, regenerate and function normally once again.

To make a long story short, chelation therapy is the safe, fast and cost effective way to clean your veins and arteries. If you are looking to renew your health and enjoy life to the fullest, chelation therapy is definitely an option that should be considered.

Did you know that heart disease is the #1 killer of American women and men? Just to prove how common heart disease is, I would like to share with you the fact that my father in law had gone for a heart bypass and one of my childhood friend had passed away suddenly only last year due to heart attack too.

However, the good news is that heart disease can be prevented. Hence, I am writing this to join the millions of people across the country to raise awareness on the knowledge and tools available in reducing the risks of heart disease.

Doing their part to take some positive action is Campbell, who is teaming up with six-time Grammy-award winner Toni Braxton and designer Lisa Perry to support the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. Perry created three exclusive Campbell’s red dress designs, and America is invited to vote on its favorite by visiting GoRedWithCampbells.com from December 20, 2007 – January 30, 2008 . For each vote cast, Campbell will donate $1 to the American Heart Association (up to $100,000). The winning design will be unveiled by Braxton at the Woman’s Day Red Dress Awards to kick off American Heart Month (February).

You can easily help by spreading the word about this important campaign to help fight heart disease. Head over to  GoRedWithCampbells.com  for more information and tips on leading a heart-healthy lifestyle, and for a variety of healthy recipes.
