My Lil Venture |Beauty|Fashion|Hairstyles|Health|Shopping|Women Talk

Do you believe in online or virtual friendship? How realistic do you think they are?

Being an introvert, I am one who likes to hide behind my cloak of annonymity. At least, part annonymous to some :) Though I must admit that I have extended my friendship to some bloggers beyond what I would categorize as virtual friendship. Having said that, I have not actually met up with any bloggers in person. Yep, I do admit I am a little afraid.

In the blogosphere, we may project our image at the very surface only and not the total package that we come in. So, through blogs, there may be a pre-conceived perception of that blogger in real life. However, when we meet up, the expectation might not be met and hence, the real life friendship might not materialize.

While I acknowledged that many real life friendship and even romance have blossomed through virtual relationship, should a line be drawn here? What’s your take on this?

Edited to add : There was supposed to be a poll on this but somehow my alignment was out again due to the insertion of the poll. Meantime, please feel free to add your comments. Thanks!

I have made friends that i have exchanged things with and have met. I am cautious but at the same time it is fun to meet new people!

Yep, I agree that’s what’s so great about blogging and the reason why I’m so addicted to it!

It is always wise to be cautious of who you chat with online. It also takes a lot of common sense too, esp when comes to virtual relationship. I met my husband online but we started out as friends and it bloomed from there.

True true, absolutely agree :)

true wat u said but at the same time, the ‘real’ person can’t be very far when you actually meet them. it’s fun too! and to vien, we sort of boarded the same boat! my hubby and I dated online before we took the serious step :P

Bravo to you :)

I have no problems making friends online, but when it comes to dating, I’m staying away from it.
Gee, frankly, I haven’t met many bloggers friends.

At least, you have met a few of them and maintained the friendship. That’s good enough :)

I wrote a post about this too. Yeah, i don’t mind making friends on line but i am a bit cautious esp if it is the opp sex. there are many weirdos out there.

And you have been tagged at http://justmytots.com/2007/04/30/tag-food-around-the-world/

Thanks dear. I’m going your way soon ;)

I have had the same thoughts…I am usually not so forward in real life, but my avenue of speach seems to be easier with the fingers. No interuptions while I speak! I have made online friends and really enjoy their support. But would they like me in real life?
